Hoffmann tells the story of his three unfortunate loves. The first was Olympia, a mechanical doll. The second was Antonia, a dying singer. And the the last was Giulietta, a Venetian temptress.

The story is accompanied by one of the most harmonic and poetic operas of Romanticism serving as the musical backdrop.
Did you know that the opera “The Tales of Hoffmann” is an adaptation of several tales made by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré? And that a barcarolle was originally a folk song sung by Venetian gondoliers?
